Who can be an Apprentice at Local 716?

The following criteria must be met in order to be able to apply to our apprenticeship program.

Be 18 Years Old and a Maine Resident

Attend an Informational Session

Have a Valid Drivers License

Have a Minimum of a GED or Highschool Diploma

Pass a pre-hire drug screen

How do I apply to be an Apprentice at Local 716?

Thank you for your interest in Local 716 Apprenticeship. We have four trades that we apprentice at Local716- Plumbing, HVAC, Pipefitting and Welding.  Please send your resume before registering for Information meeting to kthompson1@uanet.org.  After the information meeting you will be invited to apply to Local 716 Apprenticeship opportunity.  We hold all applications for 1 year and hold entrance interviews as our program vacancies allow. The recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex.  The JATC will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate this apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 30, as amended, and any applicable State Regulations.  WOMEN, MINORITIES AND VETERANS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!  

Applying to become a Journeymen at Local 716

With 5 years of verifiable experience you may qualify as a Journeymen. Please send your resume and registering for our Informational zoom meeting to blibby@uanet.org.  Please fill out the proper application for your trade (Plumber/Pipefitter/Welder or HVAC). You must also fill out the UA Membership Application. You will be contacted within 5 business days to set up a time to come in with a copy of your Drivers License, SS Card, Birth Certificate, OSHA 30 Cert (you will need to obtain it within 6 months of hire) and any trade certifications and licenses. When you come in you will also take the welding, pipefitters or plumbing evaluation test. Once you pass any testing you will need to pay our initiation fee and be initiated in at the next union meeting. Union meeting are on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

The Application For Membership form is NOT an on-line form. It MUST be printed out first and completed by hand. Once you have completed the form and collected all the required documentation, email, mail or hand deliver the entire packet to the address on the application.
